A village in Loudoun County, Aldie has been immortalized by its rich Virginia history. It is the legendary site of the Battle of Aldie during the Gettysburg campaign and various other scuffles during the civil war. Aldie is now home to numerous sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places including Aldie Mill, the Aldie Mill Historic District, and various others. A major tourist attraction, Aldie Mill is the lone surviving gristmill in Virginia powered by overshot water wheels. Open to the public April through October, Aldie Mill offers visitors a glimpse into Virginia’s past through demonstrations each weekend. In June every year, the Mill also offers a renowned art exhibit and sale that you won’t want to miss!Its history is only one part of what makes Aldie, Virginia such an interesting place in which to live or visit. Chuck and Cathi Brittle were actually married in Aldie at the Aldie United Methodist Church and had their reception at the renowned Red Fox Inn located in Middleburg, VA.
