Aldie, Virginia Community Information


A village in Loudoun County, Aldie has been immortalized by its rich Virginia history. It is the legendary site of the Battle of Aldie during the Gettysburg campaign and various other scuffles during the civil war. Aldie is now home to numerous sites listed in the National Register of Historic Places including Aldie Mill, the Aldie Mill Historic District, and various others.

A major tourist attraction, Aldie Mill is the lone surviving gristmill in Virginia powered by overshot water wheels. Open to the public April through October, Aldie Mill offers visitors a glimpse into Virginia’s past through demonstrations each weekend. In June every year, the Mill also offers a renowned art exhibit and sale that you won’t want to miss!
