Ashburn, Virginia Community Information
  
Located 30 miles outside of Washington, D.C., in Loudon County, Ashburn is a large planned community that started being built in the 1980’s with Ashburn Village and then followed with Ashburn Farm. The area has continued to grow throughout the years and has expanded to include the Broadlands, Belmont Ridge, and Brambleton. Situated between the Dulles Greenway, Route 7 and Route 28, it is a very short distance to the Dulles International Airport and Dulles Technology Corridor. With the Washington and Old Dominion Trail (W&OD) meandering through the area, Ashburn is home to many amenities including the Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion including a pond for kayaking, Belmont Country Club and Golf Course including their summer Musicfest, Brambleton’s new stadium-style seating at Regal Movie Cinema, and ice skating or ice hockey at the Ashburn Ice House.
AOL, Equinix, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) at Janelia Farm, MCI, and other high tech corporations all provide residents of Ashburn and surrounding communities, excellent job opportunities. If you are looking for sports entertainment, the Washington Redskins’ practice camp is located in Ashburn. And for those interested in furthering their education, Ashburn is home to the Loudoun campus of Strayer University and George Washington University.
