As one of the oldest communities in Fairfax County, The Centreville Historic District is a haven for history buffs with historic homes and churches to explore, as well as Civil War memorabilia for appreciation. There are plenty of museums in the area for those looking to learn a bit more about the history of Centreville but you don’t need to visit a museum to experience Centreville history. The Civil War Trails Sign at the Old Stone Church is just one community treasure. Centreville’s population reached just under 50,000 in 2006 and is continuing to grow at a regular rate. Its proximity to Washington D.C provides residents with excellent job opportunities in technical, governmental, and countless other fields of work.If you have children you'll also want to learn about Centreville schools as well as activities they can participate in after school. The city is served by Fairfax County Public Schools which include several elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. Additionally, the Centreville Library recognizes that kids are also an important part of the community. Take the kids to the Centreville Library for reading activities for preschoolers, afternoon tea parties and movies for girls ages 8-12, or even a Study Hall with gaming that follows afterwards (guitar hero, etc.). To participate in the gaming activities kids must also attend the Study Hall.
