Part of Washington Metropolitan Area, Clarke County Virginia is home to a small population for even a city. The population just topped 12,600 in the year 2000 and has since grown just a smidgen. Just like other Northern Virginia communities and counties, Clarke County has a unique history that can be found in every town.


Historic structures speckle the Clarke County landscape telling countless tales of its extensive and rich past. Soldier’s Rest, a beautiful farmhouse in Berryville, served multiple purposes as a Confederate Soldier hideout, a military hospital, and of course a Berryville home. The Clarke County Courthouse, completed in 1837, is a beautiful brick structure whose prim construction has stood the test of time. Countless additional Historic structures including Buck Marsh Church, Rosemont Estate, Clay Hill, and Glendale Farm all contribute to the overall experience that residents and visitors of Clarke County are able to enjoy. Clarke County’s history, of course, is only the beginning of what one can experience as a visitor or resident.


If you love the outdoors, the Clarke County Parks and Recreation Department provide residents the opportunity to enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities within the 107 acre park. During the hot summer months your family will certainly enjoy many dips in the outdoor swimming pool, playing sports activities including soccer, baseball, and softball, as well as tennis on the lighted tennis courts. Enjoy a leisurely walk on the Clarke County fitness trail or have a weekend picnic with family and friends. If you have young children there is also a large playground to keep them entertained.
