Surrounded by seven different counties, Fauquier County is located in an area that offers access to most of the excitement throughout Northern Virginia. Fauquier County had a small population of only 55,139 in 2000. However, the population here is continuing to grow as many find its rural atmosphere a welcome change from busier metropolitan areas that surround it. And Fauquier County does deliver when it comes to outdoor recreation.
If you are looking for a place to enjoy sports such as basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, fishing, horseback riding, or even hunting, you will find a variety of parks in Fauquier County that offer these activities and more. For the deer hunting enthusiast, visit G. Richard Thompson Wildlife Management Area which is comfortably nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains and along the Appalachian Trail. For hiking and bridle trails, Sky Meadows State Park and William C. Whitney State Forest are excellent options.
If providing fresh produce and fruits for your family dinners is a priority, there are plenty of Fauquier County Farmer’s Markets for you to explore. Some Farmers Markets include Remington Farmer’s Market, Bill’s Farm Market in Catlett, Warrenton Farmer’s Market, and Archwood Green Barns Farm Market in The Plains.
Additionally, in Fauquier County you’ll find many Inns and restaurants for your family to experience for dinner or a weekend adventure, wineries galore, the Flying Circus in Midland, museums such as the Goldvein Museum where your kids can pan for gold, golf courses, and plenty of shops. Boredom is not a concept that residents of Fauquier County understand because there is never a dull moment while living in this beautiful Northern Virginia area.
