Situated within the picturesque borders of Prince William County, Gainesville is a community that is growing by leaps and bounds. In 2000, the population was a mere 4300, however, in the last eight years the population has grown to more than 15,000 residents. People are relocating to Gainesville from other Northern Virginia communities as well as from other states across the country. And it’s no wonder… there remains a multitude of business opportunities, exciting recreational options, and countless entertainment choices to make living in this Northern Virginia community pleasurable throughout the year. With the median age of residents 35, it is a fairly young population of mostly families. However, don’t let the median age of residents fool you. There is also a retirement community in Gainesville called Heritage Golf and Country Club.


Families with young children may be interested to know that there are plenty of schools that serve Gainesville residents. There are currently nine elementary schools, however; only three are located within Gainesville including Buckland Mills Elementary School, Glenkirk Elementary School, and George G. Tyler Elementary School. Additionally, there are three middle schools with Bull Run Middle School actually located in Gainesville. High schools in the area include Battlefield High School in Haymarket and Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas.


For those interested in maintaining an active lifestyle Gainesville won’t disappoint. For the golf enthusiast in your family there are multiple golf courses in Gainesville including Heritage Golf and Country Club, Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, Virginia Oaks Golf Club, and Stonewall Golf Club. The latter is known as one of Northern Virginia’s finest public golf courses and has been written about in famous publications such as Golf Week, Golf Digest, and Golf Magazine. In addition, there are a few parks in Gainesville worth checking out.


A quaint shopping center in Gainesville, Virginia Gateway offers Gainesville and Haymarket residents a chance to shop, dine, and get errands done in fun and relaxed environment.
