Haymarket, Virginia Community Information

Situated in Prince William County at the foothills of the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, Haymarket is a one-of-a-kind community rich in history and beauty. Haymarket has always been considered a jewel amongst other towns in Northern Virginia but its beauty couldn’t be kept secret for long. In the past ten years the population has begun to grow slowly but surely. It is estimated that its current population is around 1300. With such a small population it need not struggle to maintain a small-town feel because it is a small town. Haymarket offers residents great access to the rest of Northern Virginia as well as Washington DC making it an excellent location for commuters to the DC area. Though many of Haymarket’s homes and buildings were burned during the Civil War, you can still experience its historic significance when visiting the Haymarket Museum (free admission), the Southern Railway Caboose nearby the museum, as well as Locust Bottom. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Locus Bottom was previously known as Rollingwood Farm. It is now domestically used and privately owned, however, in its heyday it served various functions from agricultural to animal facilities. If you are more interested in current events of Haymarket there are plenty of things to do and see.Every Saturday from April through October you may find your neighbors bustling through Haymarket Farmer’s Market for fresh produce and unique food items. Throughout the summer months Haymarket also hosts Summer Concerts for free for all residents to enjoy. Additionally, each September Haymarket hosts a special event called Haymarket Days Festival with an elaborate parade, classic cars, entertaining shows, and delicious treats that bring the entire community together. It’s an event your whole family will enjoy!Golfing is also a favorite pastime of many North Virginia families and there are a couple golf courses right here in Haymarket including Evergreen Country Club and Bull Run Country Club.
