Only twenty-two miles outside downtown Washington D.C., Herndon, Virginia is an excellent location to live for those that work within the Washington D.C. area. Herndon’s population is still quite small, reaching just over 23,000 residents this past year. However, the community is continuing to grow. Herndon offers residents many wonderful amenities to keep people active throughout the year. The Herndon Community Center at Bready Park offers residents a way to connect with neighbors by participating in programs & classes, visiting the fitness facilities, or playing tennis at the Bready Park Indoor Tennis Center. Some of the programs and classes that are offered at the Herndon Community Center include arts & crafts, pottery, photography, cooking, swimming, tennis, performing arts, gymnastics, guitar lessons, and dance classes. There are many additional classes offered for children and adults. What's more, there is a Teen Center that is available for teens to utilize Monday through Friday from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm for a small fee. Herndon residents value their time outdoors and in the sunshine year-round. For this purpose the city of Herndon has developed and currently maintains eleven community parks. Herndon parks have various amenities including basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds and playscapes, volleyball courts, walking trails, picnic areas and grills, and shelters.
